Friends can easily stream through Plex including transcode (hardware transcode with Intel GPU) and I don't notice any hit in my gaming. I've got a bunch of dockers and a gaming VM with an nvidia card passed through. I 100% recommend you get Unraid! I had a QNAP before this and let me tell you, building my own machine has been awesome and Unraid has never skipped a beat! Going on about 14 months now since my build. A Mac cannot run a version of OS X or macOS that is older. So just updated two systems to MacOS Sierra.

Once the restore is complete, you could download and install the latest version of macOS from the App Store (High Sierra and earlier) or from System Preferences (Mojave). Otherwise my understanding is that Time Machine over SMB is supported in 6.7.0. This will erase your Mac and restore everything from your chosen backup, including the backed up version of macOS. I'm currently backing up my Mac to Unraid over SMB with version 6.6.7. The reasoning behind this is that in the event the remote backup disk is not available or present, then you can recover files in spite of a missing.
